Our property is located at 16 Clarke St. in the heart of downtown historic Newport, Rhode Island. This charming hidden street in the midst of downtown is the ideal location to rest and relax while also being close to everything the city by the sea has to offer.

Our property offers off street parking for guests at no additional charge. Please limit to one vehicle per party. If you do need additional parking spaces for your group there is a metered public lot across the way.

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in is available between 4:00–7:00 PM. Most guests use our remote/self check-in, which allows you to arrive at your convenience during this window. Instructions for remote check-in will be sent prior to your arrival.

Check-out time is 11:00 AM.

Early and late check-ins can usually be accommodated for an additional charge and with advanced notice. If you expect to arrive before or after check-in hours, please notify us as soon as possible.

On weekends, guests are invited to enjoy brunch at our family-owned restaurants, known for serving some of the best brunch in Newport, RI and featuring locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Stoneacre Brasserie is a French American Bistro and Stoneacre Garden serving up an Asian Fusion menu, we would be happy to book your VIP reservation at any time during your stay. While we do not offer room service, we’re always happy to recommend great spots around town if late-night cravings strike.

Guests are also welcome to place to-go orders from Stoneacre restaurants, both conveniently located just a short walk from the inn—perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal back in our dining room.

Guests can spend the day strolling along the scenic Cliff Walk, touring the famous Newport Mansions, or relaxing at nearby beaches like Easton’s Beach and Gooseberry Beach. The historic Newport Harbor area is just a short walk away and offers sailing excursions, waterfront shopping, and beautiful sunset views.

Two-night reservations are required on most weekends and during busy season (with a three-night minimum required for major holiday weekends and various other dates). This may cause our availability calendar to show “No Availability.” During the week (Sunday through Thursday nights), some rooms may be available for a one-night stay. Interested in a one-night stay? Please call us directly.

Cancellation is 100% refundable with a 2 week notice. Cancellation 1 week prior or less to check in is 50% refundable. All cancellations are subject to a $50 fee.

Our Newport hotel does have dog-friendly suites and rooms. Please be sure to let us know when making your reservation if you will be accompanied by your canine friend (who must weigh under 30 lbs. ). For your pet's comfort we will happily provide a dog bed, bowl and a welcome toy! We charge a pet fee of $125 per pet.

Please be aware that pets must never be left in a guest room alone, and are permitted only on our porches and the exterior common areas of our hotel, and only while on leash. While we love our pets, not all of our guests feel the same way. For this reason, pets are never permitted in interior public spaces.

As a condition of reserving a room at our hotel, you agree to pay a $250.00 fee if any pets are found in rooms unattended, or if your pet causes stains or damage to a pet friendly guest room.

While the Chart house Inn is happy to welcome all people through it’s doors and well-behaved children, occupancy in most of our rooms is limited to two (2) people of any age, including children and infants. Please note our additional per person fees described below.

All of our rates are based on double occupancy unless otherwise noted in room descriptions. Extra guests (where they can be accommodated) will be charged an additional fee of $50 per person per night, including children and infants.
