The Chart House Inn is centrally located at 16 Clarke Street in historic Newport, Rhode Island.     Clarke Street is just off Touro Street and Washington Square where one of the first acts of resistance to British authority occurred in 1769 when the British sloop Liberty was destroyed and its boats dragged in the Square. The inn is just 350 yards from the Newport waterfront.

Directions from Boston - Take Rt. 24 South through Fall River Mass. to Aquidneck Island at which point the road becomes Rt. 114. Continue on Rt. 114 down the length of the island (approx. 20 miles) to downtown Newport. The small park on your left is Washington Square. Take the left-hand turn around the park on Touro Street (just before the light). There will be movie theatres on your right. Clarke St. is the first street on your right, just past the Jane Pickens Theatre. Turn right onto Clarke St. and the Chart House Inn is the fourth house on the left.

Directions from New York - Take I 95 North to Rt. 138 East (exit 3A). Continue on Rt. 138 East, it will take you across the Jamestown and Newport (toll bridge) Bridges. Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge, (Downtown Newport) and take a right at the end of the exit. Go straight through the first stop light. At the second stop light, turn right. That puts you on Americas Cup Avenue. Go to the second light and take a left (ball park is on your left and Gateway Visitors Center is on your right). Next intersection is a four way stop, take a right. At the next light take a left just in front of the Banana Republic store on Touro Street. There will be a park on your left and two movie theatres on your right. The next street to your right is Clarke St., just past the Jane Pickens Theatre. Take a right onto Clarke St. and The Chart House Inn is the fourth house on the left.

Directions from Providence - Take I 195 East through Fall River Mass. to Rt 24 South. Follow Rt. 24 South to Aquidneck Island, at which point the road becomes Rt. 114. From Providence / T.F.Green Airport - Take I-95 South to Rt. 4 South. Take exit for Jamestown / Newport onto Rt. 138 East, it will take you across the Jamestown and Newport (toll bridge) Bridges. Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge, (Downtown Newport) and take a right at the end of the exit. Go straight through the first stop light. At the second stop light, turn right.
